About Fusion Adaptive Fitness

Real Fitness. Individual Adaptations. Respectful Coaching.

Fusion Adaptive Fitness was created around a simple idea:

Not every athlete needs the same workout.

Some people need more individual attention. Some need a different pace. Some need clearer instructions, more repetition or exercise modifications. Others simply have not found a traditional gym or fitness program that feels like the right fit.

Fusion Adaptive Fitness provides a different way to train. We focus on real fitness while adapting the coaching around the athlete.

Our Approach to Adaptive Fitness

Adaptive fitness does not mean creating one easier workout for everyone with a disability.

It means learning about the athlete and adjusting the training approach when needed.

Depending on the individual, that may include changes to:

  • exercise selection
  • resistance
  • range of motion
  • pacing
  • instructions
  • repetitions
  • transitions
  • group environment
  • level of coach support

The workout adapts to the athlete, not the other way around.

Fitness First

Fusion Adaptive Fitness is a fitness program. We focus on:

strength
conditioning
balance
coordination
movement
exercise skills
confidence
healthy routine
fitness independence

We do not provide medical treatment, physical therapy, occupational therapy, ABA or rehabilitation.

Our role is to coach exercise and help athletes participate in meaningful physical fitness.

Who We Work With

Fusion Adaptive Fitness serves children, teens and adults who may benefit from a more individualized approach to exercise.

This may include some athletes with:

  • autism
  • intellectual disabilities
  • developmental disabilities
  • mobility differences
  • coordination challenges
  • other support needs

A diagnosis alone does not determine whether Fusion is the right fit.

We start by learning about the athlete.

What We Believe

Presume Ability

Do not assume someone cannot learn, progress or be challenged because of a diagnosis.

Adapt the Coaching

If one teaching style or exercise does not work, change the approach.

Keep Fitness Real

Adaptive does not mean removing challenge. Athletes should still have meaningful fitness goals.

Respect the Athlete

People should not be defined entirely by a disability, diagnosis or support need.

Build Strength. Build Confidence. Build Independence.

Progress can look different for every athlete.

It may mean:

  • becoming stronger
  • learning a new movement
  • finishing a full workout
  • following a fitness routine
  • becoming more comfortable in the gym
  • participating in a group
  • needing fewer prompts
  • becoming more independent with exercise

We focus on progress that is meaningful to the person.
